Marshall Nordic Practice Begins Monday, November 11!

Posted by on November 8th 2013 in Uncategorized
Marshall Nordic practice begins on Monday!  We will meet in the upper school commons at 3:30, take role, stretch out a bit and then start our work out.  We should be done most days around 5:00pm.
Until we have snow, running will be the main part of the workout.  Come prepared to run outside in the cold.  What does that mean?

 Good quality running shoes
 Wool or poly pro socks
poly pro long underwear top and bottom
running tights/pants
wind proof jacket
insulating layer for top…ie vest or thin polar fleece
 gloves
 stocking cap

To practice you must have your yellow card from the athletic office or be confirmed that all your paperwork is in.  See here for details:
http://www.oarmarshallschool.portal.rschooltoday.com/

Please make sure you are dressed properly for the workout…skiers dressed poorly for the weather will not be allowed to practice until they have appropriate clothing.

See you Monday!

Thursday, February 7, 2013    Marshall School senior Joe Fairbanks qualified for his third MSHSL State Tournament with a strong top ten finish in today’s Section Seven Nordic Ski Meet, held at Giants Ridge Nordic Ski Center.   In the first race of the day a 5 kilometer skate race on the Silver Trail, Fairbanks placed 10th.  Later that afternoon Joe moved up one spot to capture ninth place overall in the classical pursuit race held on the Cedar and Gold section course.  His finish placed him in the group of eight individual state meet qualifiers not on the winning team.  Fairbank’s teammate Senior Cody Johnson finished the day 13th in skate and 17th overall.  Johnson was satisfied with his performance in the grueling races having just recovered from a long lingering cold.

In team results the Ely boys captured first place in a hard fought battle with the Duluth East Greyhounds.  The Marshall boys team finished the day in 6th place out of the 11 teams competing in a very tough section.

The MSHSL State Tournament will be held on Thursday, Feb 14, 2013 at Giants Ridge.  Racing begins at 10:00am and will be broadcast live by WELY out of Ely, Minnesota
