Date: Friday, January 31, 2014.
Where: Pincushion Mtn Ski Area On the Gunflint Trail.
(Co. Rd. 12 is the Gunflint Trail  go through ‘downtown’ Grand Marais, turn left onto the Gunflint Trail, go about three miles to the Pincushion scenic overlook (Pincushion Drive) and turn right. Warming house and primitive toilets on site.

Coaches meeting & bib pickup 9:30 AM at Pincushion warming house.

ORDER OF START (Enter as many skiers as you want)
10:30 am start running clock. Racers double start at 30 second intervals, with some gaps between events to prevent unnecessary crowding.

NOTE: The Jr. High race is for classical technique only and shall be for up through the 9th grade. Varsity skiers can ski both races (pursuit), or just the freestyle 5K, but varsity awards shall be given only for the pursuit. The classic varsity pursuit skiers will begin in the order of their freestyle finish at the interval they finished behind the leader. Note that we have eliminated the individual varsity classic only skiers and instead have introduced the JV Freestyle only event. Note also, that skiers entering only one race will not count for the team score. Only pursuit skiers will count towards team scores

FOOD! THERE WILL BE HOMEMADE SOUPS, BREAD, BARS AND DRINKS AVAILABLE FOR
PURCHASE, SO LEAVE THE PB&J SANDWICHES AT HOME!
AWARDS:
Individual top 10 in pursuit: Medals. Individual JV freestyle and Individual Jr. High classic: Medals 1-5,Ribbons 6-10. Varsity Pursuit Team plaques 1-2-3, boys and girls.
Award presentations will be at Pincushion warming house immediately following race.
The Grand Marais Municipal Pool has closed down. There is a new YMCA pool. Contact the YMCA directly for pricing (218)387-3386. It is my understanding that members of the Duluth YMCA get in for free.

Cost: $5 per skier. Make checks payable to North Superior Ski & Run Club.
(Race fees must be paid before race start to participate!)

Marshall Nordic Practice Begins Monday, November 11!

Marshall Nordic practice begins on Monday!  We will meet in the upper school commons at 3:30, take role, stretch out a bit and then start our work out.  We should be done most days around 5:00pm.
Until we have snow, running will be the main part of the workout.  Come prepared to run outside in the cold.  What does that mean?

 Good quality running shoes
 Wool or poly pro socks
 poly pro long underwear top and bottom
running tights/pants
wind proof jacket
 insulating layer for top…ie vest or thin polar fleece
 gloves
 stocking cap

To practice you must have your yellow card from the athletic office or be confirmed that all your paperwork is in.  See here for details:

Please make sure you are dressed properly for the workout…skiers dressed poorly for the weather will not be allowed to practice until they have appropriate clothing.

Snowflake Cross Country Ski Swap

Saturday, November 10, 2012 is the date of the 22 Annual Snowflake Cross Country Ski Swap.  The swap is the place to buy and sell used and new cross country ski equipment.  Knowledgeable skiers and local ski shop personnel will be on hand to help guide buyers in finding equipment suited to their needs.  Here are the details:

Location:  Snowflake Nordic Ski Center, 4348 Rice Lake Road, Duluth, MN 55811   218-726-1550

Check In of Equipment to Sell:  Friday, November 9 from 5-8 pm

Swap:  Saturday, November 10 from 9am-12:00 noon……numbers for entry handed out starting at 8:00 am

NOTE: The classic pursuit race will be limited to the top 100 skiers from each of the boys and girls Varsity freestyle race. Only pursuit skiers will count towards Varsity team scores.

Individual awards to the top 10 in the Varsity pursuit, Junior Varsity freestyle and Jr. High freestyle events.

Marshall Holiday Ski Camp

The Marshall Holiday Ski Camp is for children ages 5-12. The 2009 Camp will be held on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday December 28-30, 2009 at Snowflake Nordic Ski Center. The camp is supervised by the Marshall Nordic Ski Team Coaching Staff. Instruction is provided by the members of Marshall Nordic.
