On Saturday, January 5, 2008 twenty members of the Marshall Nordic Ski Team will join over a thousand other skiers for the nation’s largest high school nordic ski race, the Mesabi East Invite! The Mesabi East Invite is held on the state meet courses at Giant’s Ridge Ski Area in Biwabik, Minnesota. The schedule of events is as follows:

Qualification at 10am
Heats to follow immediately after Qualification

Cash Prizes for the Citizens.*

*Prize money based on participation in each division.

Enjoy some footage of the men’s and women’s A- and B-Finals from Saturday’s SuperTour classic sprints hosted by Bozeman, Montanna-based Bridger Ski Foundation and Bohart Ranch. Laura Valaas (APU) claimed victory ahead of US Development Team skier Lindsay Williams, while on the men’s side it was a University of Utah 1-2 with Snorri Einarsson holding off teammate Even Sletten. Duluth Super Tour Sprints: A World Class Nordic Ski Event At Home

On Wednesday, January 23, 2008 the Marshall Ski Trails will be the place to be for all nordic skiing enthusiasts and everyone else interested in exciting racing action. Starting at 4:00 pm and running until 7:00 pm spectators will be treated to fast paced, head to head ski racing on the challenging Marshall Sprints Course. My First Race! Now What?

Saturday you will board the bus at 7:00 am to travel up the state to participate in your first cross country ski race of the season. If this is your first race you might have so many questions about what to do that you might not even know where to start. Marshall Sprints High School Nordic Ski Race

The 2008 Marshall Sprints will be held at the Marshall School in Duluth, Minnesota on Saturday, January 12, 2008. This is the fourth annual running of this exciting event. The Marshall Sprints features an unique format to guarantee all skiers at least two races for a total just over 4.5 kilometers of racing. All of the sprint racing will start and finish on the school football field. The sprint course averages 15 feet wide, with some sections as wide as 24 feet. The course is safe, fast and exciting. It will be a true test of your skier’s talent. We will have a separate Jr. High 3 kilometer skate race.

Date: Saturday, January 12, 2008

Time: 9:00 bib pick up and course inspection

11:00 Sprint Qualifier

12:30 pm 3.5 k race and Jr. High 3k

2:00 pm Single elimination sprint heats top 30 boys and 30 girls
