A Great Day To Be A Coach, Day Three Marshall Holiday Ski Camp

Posted by Dave Johnson on December 30th 2007 in Team Communication, Events

Topper TunnelThe Fifth Annual Marshall Holiday Ski Camp ended on Saturday, December 29 with a trade mark tradition of the Marshall School; a Topper Tunnel.  At Marshall School whenever a team or an individual qualifies for a state tournament, the whole student body lines both sides of the front hallway and forms a human tunnel with their upraised arms.   The students who qualified for state then run through the tunnel.  At the ski camp we used the Topper Tunnel to celebrate the accomplishments of and to honor the 85 children who attended our camp.
The Holiday Ski Camp is a fund raiser for the Marshall Nordic Team, monies raised will go towards team events, grooming equipment and to offset the cost of the team jackets.  The camp however is not just about money, at it’s core is the goal of building team unity and sharing our love of skiing with the youth in our community.

A Great Day To Be A Kid, Day Two Marshall Holiday Ski Camp

Snowflake Chalet Hill

Snowflake Nordic Ski Center was alive today with the sounds of happy children enjoying just another Extra Blue December day at the Marshall Holiday Ski Camp. Today was the second of three days of camp. The focus today was on fun, technique and covering distance. The advanced skating group went out on the 10k early in the day. I met them just past Wiggles and I was impressed with the speed at which the class was moving. Marty and his crew really had them speeding along. The younger groups stayed a bit closer to the chalet, playing tag, one ski soccer and a hide and seek game called Thicket. The older intermediate groups found fresh snow out on the biathlon range and spent a fair amount of time just playing in the snow.
