Cook County Invitational Pursuit Race
Posted by Dave Johnson on January 27th 2010 in Events, Races, Team CommunicationOn Friday, January 29, 2010 the Marshall Nordic Ski Team will participate in the Cook County Invitational Pursuit Race held at the Pincushion Mountain Ski Area in Grand Marais, Minnesota.
Bus will leave Marshall at 6:30 am and return ~9:00 pm

Cook County Meet at Pincushion, Grand Marais, MN
It’s time for the best meet of the year! Our day will begin early so please be at school by 6:10 and ready to leave at 6:30. We’ll drive to the Pincushion Mountain Trail in Grand Marais. For Varsity the race will consist of 2 separate races. The first will be a 5K skate race followed by a 5K classic pursuit start race.
Jr High will race a 2.6 kilometer classic race.
The folks in Grand Marais are known for their delicious soups home-made breads, so you might consider bringing some money with for a lunch. After the race, we will head over to Grand Marais’ community pool. If you choose to swim, it will cost $3.00 (please bring 3 one-dollar bills). Then we’ll proceed to Sven and Oles (www.svenandoles.com) for the finest pizza south of the border (the Canadian border). Please bring some money with for pizza. A large pizza 16 inch one-topping pizza feeds 3 hungry skiers and costs $13.35. A slice of pizza is $2.35. After our bellies are full, we’ll get back on the bus and head back to Marshall.
Think carefully about your day. You will need clothing for 2 races, warm clothes to cheer in, swimsuit, towel, bus riding clothes. You will need money, food for breakfast and lunch, water bottles, and all of your ski equipment. I would suggest laying everything out on a floor in your house and just making sure that you have all the equipment that you need for a great day in Grand Marais!

Boy’s skate race
Girl’s skate race
Followed by:
Boys Jr. High Classic
Girls Jr High Classic
2:00 pm
Boy’s classic Pursuit Start
Girl’s classic Pursuit Start
Swim at the Grand Marais municipal pool
Eat at Sven and Ole’s Pizza
~9:00pm Arrive at Marshall
