Thought of the Week
Dec. 8:
Carpe Diem!
The snow is arriving! With our first race right around the corner, my thought for the week is about making the most of your experience this ski season.
We can go through ski season, and all of life’s experiences being either active or passive participants. We can decide whether to arrive with purpose. We can also just show up and see what happens. There are sometimes occasions for just showing up and seeing what happens – but athletics isn’t one of them. Let’s make the most of this season!!
This is a great time to think about what you want to accomplish this year. Do you want to improve your technique on hills? Do you want to improve your time? Do you want to make five new friends? Do you want to be a leader, inspiring and helping our younger skiers? Setting and accomplishing a goal is one of the best feelings in the world. You will grow, and make memories, and increase your self confidence by knowing you can do anything you set your mind to. (Ms. Knudsen)
Here are two quotes from Shel Silverstein to ponder as you set your goals:
“Listen to the mustn’ts, child. Listen to the don’ts. Listen to the shouldn’ts, the impossibles, the won’ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me… Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.” –
— Shel Silverstein
“All The Woulda-Coulda-Shouldas
Layin’ In The Sun,
Talkin’ ‘Bout The Things
They Woulda-Coulda-Shoulda Done…
But All Those Woulda-Coulda-Shouldas
All Ran Away And Hid
From One Little Did.” –
— Shel Silverstein
