A Great Day To Be A Coach, Day Three Marshall Holiday Ski Camp

Topper TunnelThe Fifth Annual Marshall Holiday Ski Camp ended on Saturday, December 29 with a trade mark tradition of the Marshall School; a Topper Tunnel.  At Marshall School whenever a team or an individual qualifies for a state tournament, the whole student body lines both sides of the front hallway and forms a human tunnel with their upraised arms.   The students who qualified for state then run through the tunnel.  At the ski camp we used the Topper Tunnel to celebrate the accomplishments of and to honor the 85 children who attended our camp.
The Holiday Ski Camp is a fund raiser for the Marshall Nordic Team, monies raised will go towards team events, grooming equipment and to offset the cost of the team jackets.  The camp however is not just about money, at it’s core is the goal of building team unity and sharing our love of skiing with the youth in our community.
From my perspective as coach of the team, I could not be more proud of the team members of Marshall Nordic who  instructed at this year’s camp.  Each of you showedPutting on Skis complete compassion and care to the children in your group.  You willingly shared your knowledge and love of the sport of skiing, plus you gave away two of your most prized  possessions to the children; your time and your energy.  May what you so freely gave away come back to you in multiples.
Parent Volunteers:  Suffice it to say that without you we could not have held the Selecting SkisHoliday Ski Camp.  You provided us with food, worked to make sure that every child was accounted for and in the proper place.  You provided bandaids for scratches and care for tired skiers.  You helped the children find the equipment that they needed and you made the chalet into a warm and welcoming spot for students and instructors.  You were the glue that held our camp together.
Alumni Instructors:  If the parent volunteers were the glue, then you were the pillars supporting the camp.  Many of you have been volunteering at the camp from the veryMarshall Nordic Alumni Skier first year of the camp.  You have the experience to be able to keep a group of kids focused, excited and safe while teaching them skills to improve their skiing.  Thank you for giving your time and expertise to the camp.  You are important to me and the team, may you always find your way back to camp over the holidays.
A final thank you is in order to the parents of our camp participants.  Thank you for entrusting the care of your children to us.  Thank you for being willing to support the Marshall Nordic Ski team in this way and thank you for your positive energy.
